Responsible for providing Psychological services (assessment, evaluation, treatment planning and intervention, consultation, education, and feedback) to patients, families, and hospital staff at Shepherd Center.

The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, is recruiting for a full-time, inpatient SCI Neurorehabilitation Psychologist position. This position is responsible for 3 inpatient SCI rehabilitation teams (5-6 patients each), providing SCI day treatment patient care (3-5 patients), inpatient and SCI day treatment program psychological assessment consultation, and providing dual ABI/SCI psychoeducation.

The psychologist should have specialty training in rehabilitation psychology, psychological assessment, and have medical center/hospital, or interdisciplinary treatment team experience. The ideal candidate would have training or experience in spinal cord injury rehabilitation.

Primary responsibilities include active interdisciplinary team participation, and providing psychological and rehabilitative services for SCI patients, which may include individual, group, and family therapy interventions, assessments, consultations, and psychoeducation.

This position also includes training and supervision for neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology postdoctoral fellows and trainees. The psychology department at Shepherd Center is a large, collaborative group of colleagues who provide services in spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, our SHARE military initiative, complex concussion clinic, pain management clinic, and multispecialty clinics.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD from an APA/CPA-approved program in Clinical Psychology

  • APA-accredited internship completion

  • Successful completion of a 1- year or 2-year postdoctoral fellowship/residency or advanced work experience

  • Experience working in medical settings and interdisciplinary treatment teams is preferred.

  • Board certified or eligible for board certification in rehabilitation psychology or clinical neuropsychology

  • Eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia.
