Promotion Qualifications: One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Rehabilitation Counselor 1 and a bachelor's degree in a human service field* or NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse;
Open-Competitive Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in a human service field and three years of professional experience providing vocational, psychosocial, or rehabilitative/habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions.
A master's degree in a related field can be substituted for one year of specialized experience.
Duties Description As a Rehabilitation Counselor 2, you would provide a full range of rehabilitation/habilitation services to consumers, including psychosocial, competency training, and residential rehabilitation services, and such vocational services as evaluation, training, counseling, placement and support, and special employment programs. You would be required to handle more complex issues (i.e., assessment and long-range planning) and exercise more independent judgment in performing those duties. You may also be required to supervise subordinate staff.
