What You Will Do:

As a Rehab Aide, the employee supports the overall Mission and Vision of Valley Health by providing the highest quality and best-practice service to its customers. The Rehab Aide may be employed in any one of the rehab settings, and under direct supervision of a Physical or Occupational Therapist, provides support and assistance with the safe and functional rehabilitation care and treatment of the patient. The Rehab Aide supports the patient's rehabilitation goals and demonstrates flexibility to adjust to fluctuating patient care and therapist needs. Clinical settings may include: Acute / Inpatient Rehab / Outpatient. In addition, the employee maintains a working knowledge and is supportive of departmental, hospital and organizational initiatives and updates, and stays current with communication, such as emails, in a professional and timely manner

What You Will Bring:

Education

High School Diploma or GED required

Three months on-the-job training is needed to become familiar with various procedures, techniques, and safety precautions.

Experience

Previous hospital and/or health care experience as a volunteer preferred.

Certification & Licensures

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required *

  • New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Qualifications

Able to communicate effectively to various age groups to include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Job Functions As a Non Certified Hospitality Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. You are responsible for providing support to the Director of Therapeutic Recreational Services by carrying out the task and duties assigned daily. No supervisory function. Duties and Responsibilities Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, parties, etc. Promptly answer resident calls lights. Provide appropriate responses and requests. Distributes and picks up meal trays. Provides assistance to residents as needed, self-care, grooming to include nail and hair care. Bed making and changing of bed linens. Act in compliance with all corporate, state, federal, and other regulatory standards. Accompany residents, as needed, to activities, dining and therapy. Attend meetings and in-service sessions, as directed. 1:1 - Create diversional activities for behavior residents. Labeling/bagging personal belonging of residents. Assist the Director of Therapeutic Recreational Services in Activities for Residents. Experience Some experience preferred but not required in a health care environment. Specific Requirements * Must possess current unencumbered valid state drivers license. * Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. * Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served. * Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. * Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel. * Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning. * Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition. * Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Must possess the ability to understand and follow the directions of the Director of Therapeutic Recreational Services.
