Under the direct supervision of licensed clinical staff, assists the therapists in routine tasks for therapeutic treatment of patients. Assists the department supervisor/manager in coordinating the overall department's function and maintenance.

1 - CLERICAL DUTIES: Performs clerical duties to assist with daily operations of the department including scheduling, answering phones, calling patients, inventory, photocopying, filing, medicare and CPM tracking, data collection, mail and faxes, etc

  • ENVIRONMENT AND DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE/INFECTION CONTROL

Assists in the maintenance of the department's overall physical environment and infection control including cleaning equipment, temperature monitoring, pool chemistry, linen supply, area inspections

3 - TREATMENT

Provides treatment to assigned patients as appropriate under the direct supervision of clinical staff.

4 - DOCUMENTATION

Completes all documentation of services per department standards

5 - BILLING

Enters daily charges in a timely and accurate manner according to department standards

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

  • Preferred

High School diploma/GED preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

One (1) year healthcare-related experience preferred.

Previous rehabilitation experience desirable.

Previous coursework, participation in work or volunteer experience in the area of health, fitness or athletics required

Cleans, waxes, extracts and maintains floors, carpeting and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the Hospital.</p><p>1.Coordinates with the nursing staff and supervisor to clean occupied rooms first, checks empty rooms, attends to emergency cleaning for spills.</p><p>2.Uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning patient rooms daily. Bucket cleans patient rooms daily; damp mops or vacuums floors. <br><br> Dusts furniture, ledges and bed table and removes debris. Empties, washes and relines wastebaskets. Spot washes walls and windows.</p><p>a. Telephones</p><p>b. T.V. and T.V. controls</p><p>c. Doors</p><ul><li>All Parts</li></ul><p>3.Uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning restrooms. Washes basins, commodes, tubs and showers, checking and cleaning mirrors, soap dishes, water pipes and exterior surfaces. <br><br> Dusts ledges, damp mops floors and spot washes walls. Empties wastebaskets and relines. Refills toilet tissue, paper towels and soap dispensers.</p><p>4.Performs periodic detail cleaning.</p><p>a. I. V. Poles</p><p>b. Blood Pressure Cuff leads</p><p>c. Suction Bottles</p><p>d. Closets</p><ul><li>Inside and Out</li></ul><p>e. Cutains / Blinds</p><p>5.Dry mops and damp mops corridors. Spot washes corridor and elevator landings.</p><p>6.Maintains all carpets.</p><p>a. Vacuums, extracts, bonnet cleans and spot cleans all the carpeting in the hospital on an as needed basis.</p><p>7.Hangs curtains (if needed) and checks the condition of their own equipment. (carts, vacuums, tools, etc).</p><p>a. Cleans equipment upon return.</p><p>b. Reports any maintenance or repairs needed immediately.</p><p>8.Continuously displays a &quot;can do&quot; attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program in place at South Shore Hospital.</p><p>a. When entering a patient room greets each patient giving your name. Same practice used when exiting room.</p><p>b. When working or operating cleaning equipment in common areas, ceases cleaning, turns off machine, and gives assistance to patient/visitor who appears lost or in need of help.</p><p>c. Acknowledges, not only the patient, but visiting family members/friends when servicing a room.</p><p>d. Reports patient needs and requests to the nursing staff, when directed to the Environmental Service aide.</p><p>e. Engages in simple conversation with patient/family (when appropriate) during the cleaning of the room without violating HIPPA..</p><p>9.Uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning a precaution (isolation) patient room. Bucket cleans patient rooms daily; damp mops or vacuums floors. <br><br> Dusts furniture, ledges and bed table and removes debris. Empties, washes and relines wastebaskets. Spot washes walls and windows.
