This position is located in the Therapeutic Recreation Department of Central Rehab Services on MSU/Vernon Campus.
Performs entry-level rehabilitation therapy work to patients in a Forensic Psychiatric setting. Work involves providing rehabilitative services to clients with mental impairments utilizing the principles of social learning. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Must understand that duties, location of work, and shift patterns are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.Instructs and oversees individuals or groups of clients in performing therapeutic activities. (75%)Prepares materials for therapeutic activities and maintains an adequate supply of materials. (5%)Prepares reports on clients' attendance and their responses to treatments. (5%)Oversees the maintenance of recreational facilities in therapeutic work areas. (3%)May train others. (5%)Prepares clients for and accompanies them to community events and functions. (2%)Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Initial Selection Criteria:
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent. Willingness to work hours other than 8-5.Willingness to work days other than Monday-Friday.Additional Information:
