JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of Lead Regulatory Compliance Specialist, the Regulatory Compliance Specialist will ensure that FIFCO USA complies with local, state, and federal laws governing a range of matters including Federal and State licenses and permits, state product registrations, the labeling and marketing of alcohol beverages, development of new products, and consumer marketing promotions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for alcohol product commercialization in a manner that complies with all applicable laws, including federal and state product registrations, renewals, and permits

  • Responsible for Federal and State alcohol license applications, renewals, and updates

  • Assist with drafting terms and conditions for consumer marketing promotions and advertisements, as needed.

  • Stay apprised of legislative updates to alcohol labeling and advertising regulations

  • Work directly with sales and marketing departments on various legal duties

  • Work with various state agencies to register consumer marketing promotions

  • Maintain professional and clear communications with Federal and State regulatory agencies

  • Prepare legal summaries that can be easily understood by all Legal Department team members and internal clients outside of the Legal Department

  • Assist in creating and updating policies and Standard Operating Procedures based on changing regulations and laws

  • Advise Legal Department team members on updated regulations and policies

  • Update legal guidelines and other resources that are provided to the commercial and non-commercial departments

  • Assess company operations to identify compliance risks

  • Assist, as needed, with federal and state audits.

  • Review and submit invoices and filing expense reports; obtain checks and maintain appropriate records

  • Actively exhibit a commitment to support a diverse and inclusive work environment

  • Other duties and projects as assigned by Lead Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Counsel, or General Counsel.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years of experience in a legal function (or related work experience) preferred.

  • Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certification preferred

  • Experience in advertising and marketing law preferred

  • Experience researching laws and regulations and using that information to counsel via memos and oral advice preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams

  • Ability to communicate, problem-solve, and multitask in an efficient manner

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Hybrid: Mostly remote position in the Buffalo or Rochester areas, with a minimum of 1 - 2 days per month in Rochester or Buffalo office(s), depending on project needs

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $60,600 -$90,000, not including benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at FIFCO USA, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to enable future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous benefits package!
