Summary:

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist ("RCS") 2 will serve as an integral part of MidSouth Bank's Compliance Department and overall Risk Department. With the support of the Regulatory Compliance Supervisor, this team member will complete various duties in conjunction with or independent of other Compliance personnel in relation to the duties listed below.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Regulatory Compliance Specialist 2 is to provide support to the Regulatory Compliance Supervisor by performing and managing the following duties:

  • Reviews Bank policies, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with laws and regulations

  • Monitors changes to federal and state banking laws and regulations affecting the management, operations and product offerings of the bank

  • Maintains the Bank's inventory of applicable laws and regulations

  • Coordinates with operating departments to ensure adherence to laws and regulations relating to new or revised products and services offerings

  • Coordinates and supports the Bank's compliance-related programs such as compliance monitoring and testing, compliance training and compliance risk assessments

  • Provides support to other business units, as needed

  • Performs periodic compliance reviews and prepares reports of findings

  • Investigates, resolves and responds to complaints

  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent combination of experience and training

  • 2-4 years of experience related to regulatory compliance

  • Familiarity with conducting risk assessments

  • Ability to manage small teams

  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable banking laws and regulations

  • Strong reporting and analytical skills

  • Self-Starter with strong work ethic

  • Ability to read and understand manuals, instructions and correspondence

  • Provide consistent quality customer service to both internal and external customers that meet or exceeds MidSouth Bank's standards

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software

Competencies The required competencies for this job include: Transportation Engineer II : * Hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles, practices and methods and the application of engineering theory * Applicable plans, specifications and estimates, preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements * Applicable engineering workstations and applications to support efficient planning and design activities. * Design and plan preparation methods and applications * Cost estimating and cost controls * Performing basic design and drafting * Maintaining a safe working relationship * Communicate effectively Transportation Engineer III : Additional competencies * Hydrologic, hydraulic and geotechnical design activities and principles * Standards and specifications for bridges and other transportation structures * Maintenance concepts, methods, policies and requirements * Developing and giving presentations Education This job requires the following: * Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related discipline Work Experience This job requires the following: Transportation Engineer II or III: * 5 years in Transportation engineering * (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) * No Supervisory Experience Required * Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
