Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Additional Information About the Role

BJC HealthCare is looking for for a Regulatory Compliance Specialist. This role will have an integral part of ensuring that laws and regulations are being followed within the hospital.

Candidates should be comfortable interacting with leadership at all levels and have strong communication skills.

This position supports both Missouri Baptist and Barnes-Jewish Hospitals and will require travel to both locations weekly.

Previous experience working in a clinical roles is a plus!

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

This position facilitates accreditation and regulatory compliance activities within assigned facilities and provides interfacility readiness support to other facilities across BJC HealthCare. Partners with system leaders to ensure execution of standard survey program components, use of standardized tools and processes, including active participation in interfacility survey activities. Proactively assists in reviewing new or revised services and spaces to ensure compliance and facilitates performance activities to gain or restore compliance when needed. Serves as liaison for communications with federal and state regulatory bodies as well as applicable accrediting organizations. This role requires the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Certification within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates onsite survey management and comprehensive post-survey follow-up, including written responses and assurance of comprehensive actions plans to correct deficiencies.

• Supports the development, implementation and sustainment of evidence-based practice standards, policies, and procedures.

• Develops and implements strategies that ensure the organization maintains a state of perpetual readiness for any and all reviews by regulatory agencies and to achieve a level of quality and services that exceed regulatory requirements.

• Provides education, coaching and assistance to project leaders through the regulatory and accreditation processes, methodologies and tools.

• Assists departments in identifying and correcting regulatory compliance issues and participates in preparatory activities for regulatory agencies.
