POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is a technical subject matter expert position within the regulatory & nutrition organization. The incumbent will provide regulatory compliance and nutrition leadership with an emphasis on Danone North America products portfolio. This role works closely with cross-functional partners to deliver best-in-class, fact-based outputs including regulatory compliant labeling and product messaging to deliver sustainable and timely growth. The position will support technical alignment of the business and legal aspects inherent to new products and line extensions. Note, this is working leader role incumbent will be responsible for both managerial and operational activities.

  • Regulatory compliance and label creation (approximately 70%)

o Deliver new product briefs and project charters to articulate the success criteria and scope of new opportunities

o Execute against aligned timelines to:

Create Nutrition/Supplement Facts Panels and ingredient lines for all products

Provide consumer-facing label reviews and guide team defining final designs

Approve raw material and finished goods specifications

Review and approve packaging, advertising and communication materials

Register products and submit documentation to state and country regulatory agencies

o Interpret and provide guidance on US foods and dietary supplements to ensure regulatory compliance

o Guide external resources on international labeling regulations and certifications

o Substantiate and align product claims for compliance and manage supporting documentation including tracking timing and requirements for renewals

o Own internal nutrient database and assure robust nutrient data from suppliers, USDA and chemical analysis

  • Business Building, Innovation & Growth (approximately 30%)

o Influence regulatory direction and drive strategy on cross-functional teams at all points in the stage-gate process

o Support substantiation of product and nutrition claims and product naming; deliver plans to support and grow the food, sports nutrition and dietary supplement product portfolio

o Seek input, author, and share internal guidance to advance regulatory affairs programs and actively execute all regulatory affairs requirements for new product launches

o Apply nutrition expertise to identify nutrition opportunities and guide strategic nutrition direction effectively to key internal and external audiences

o Co-lead the community of practice to build strength in reviewing science-based claims and messaging benefits across nutritional platform

o Collaborate with product developers to evaluate supplier data for new or novel ingredients

o Monitor food labeling regulatory activity; assess business opportunities and impact to brands

  • All other duties as assigned

Targeted profile Required The following combination of education and experience is required for this position

o Bachelor's degree in nutrition, biochemistry, food science or closely related scientific field, Master's or PhD preferred

o At least 2 years of relevant progressive experience

  • Professional experience must include significant regulatory compliance and nutrition leadership experience with nutrition-focused products

  • Demonstrated proficiency to interpret U.S. food regulations and strong ability to navigate international labeling regulations required

  • Food labeling law certificate and/or certification issued by an accredited university preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of food composition as it relates to food labeling and dietary supplements

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to explain technical subjects to a non-technical audience

  • Ability to handle complexity, multiple projects and requests, and short timelines

  • Flexibility to work with counterparts at all levels of the organization, including Senior Leadership

  • Strong drive for results and ability to bring projects to completion

  • Detail oriented, accurate and excellent record keeping skills

  • Good judgment, decisiveness, and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable with labeling databases, computer software and systems
