Cynosure, a Hologic Company, is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Specialist 2 to participates in product development teams. Handles complex submissions with minimal supervision. Organizes regulatory information and tracks and controls submissions. Reviews and advises on labeling for compliance with regulatory filings. Reviews product changes for impact on regulatory filings worldwide. Researches regulatory issues and provides guidance and advice to colleagues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.

  • Completes submissions for countries that have complex requirements such as US FDA (510(k)s) Canada, China and/or Korea with minimal supervision.

  • Provide regulatory guidance to assigned product development team to insure the documents the team develops will meet the needs of the regulatory submissions.

  • Timely compile materials for license renewals, updates and registrations

  • Maintain regulatory files/database and chronologies in good order. Establish and maintain system for tracking changes in documents submitted to agencies or partners

  • Review labeling and labels for compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Review changes to existing products and SOPs to define the requirements for regulatory submissions

  • Provide the regulatory reviews of customer complaints and define the regulatory reportability

  • Maintain current knowledge of FDA and international regulation, guidance and standards applicable to company products

  • Actively participate in evaluation of regulatory compliance of document / product / process /test methods changes

  • Participate in research and resolution of regulatory issues. Disseminates regulatory information to Production, QA, QC and R&D departments and senior management as required.

  • Review of product complaints to determine if event is reportable.

  • Works with other departments (QA, Clinical, Service, and Engineering) to insure complete and accurate information in file.

  • Documents decision to report or not report event.

  • Prepares reports (MDRs, MDVs) for submittal.

  • Provide trend reports on adverse events as needed.



  • BS or BA in engineering or scientific field.


  • 2-5 years relevant experience within the quality/clinical/regulatory discipline. 5-7 years without a degree


  • Knowledge of US and international medical device regulatory requirements

  • Experience with submitting 510(k)s is mandatory

  • Experience with electromechanical and/or software devices is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of design controls

  • International experience is required

  • Requires proficiency with standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • The ability to meet deadlines and be detailed orientated is necessary.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Requires creative, problem-solving ability and oral and written presentation skills

  • Team oriented, the ability to work in small team environment is essential; must also be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Good planning and organization skills are vital.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.

The Technical Service Specialist provides technical and applications support for division capital equipment systems to customers and division staff. Efficiently and effectively partners with field services personnel in matters requiring on-site service including parts order requests. Ensures human capital utilization is balanced in the most cost effective manner in accordance with established budgets, policies, procedures and quality standards. Represents Technical Services in areas related to the quality system at product division levels in complaint handling, failure investigation, trend analysis, and tracking of quality actions in compliance with plans. Responsibilities * Answers internal and external clinical and technical questions via phone, email, and remotely via networking. Develop a hypothesis of the root cause of a failure, generate a working solution, and put solution into action for immediate repair or resolution of the failure. Provide feedback to customer or Division personnel involved. Uses information sent from the field to diagnose system failures and consider root cause analysis to order parts to be sent to the field services group for repair of the system. Resolves escalated customer issues where known or typical solutions cannot resolve problem. Identifies and implements the most effective and cost efficient means for resolution. Determines if and when to deploy field service support and/or equipment to customer location. * Provides clinical applications / software support to customers at the point of care. Assists the customer with clinical / software questions and problems during procedures involving Division capital equipment systems. Records software / application anomalies and suggestions and provides them as feedback to the appropriate software R&D groups. * Designs, develops, and implements content and materials for Technical Services training programs for employees in the Technical Services department. Participates in the technical and clinical training of new employees. Updates education programs on a continuous basis. * Provide technical and clinical instruction to customer and Division employees on both an impromptu basis during support situations and in classroom situations during regularly scheduled classes. * Documents, updates, and completes all calls in the appropriate call support system. * Sends repair / replacement parts to customers and creates field service work orders when appropriate. * Provides input for technical bulletins, procedures, work instructions, and best practices for technical support of Division capital equipment products. * Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements. * Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
