Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) is seeking an intern to work on a regression testing tool for an exciting project at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for the Summer of 2024. This project will be with the team that works on providing High Performance Computing (HPC) support and software maintenance and development for different Earth Science applications. The team has recently started writing (in Python) a regression testing tool that is designed to support several atmospheric models by being modular, flexible, maintainable, expendable, and configurable. The underlying infrastructure has been implemented and tested. The next step is to start incorporating models. The project will use Object-Oriented Programming principles, version control with Git, code testing (with pytest) and software management to keep track of the work.
Intern Responsibilities include:
Understand the internal structure of the regression testing tool.
Implement a generic model in the regression testing tool.
Implement the GISS modelE in the regression testing tool.
Maintain the code a Gitlab repository (using version control principles).
Participate in the design of the new tool.
Document the code.
Keep track of all the tasks with specific deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Computer Science
Background and interest in software design
Interest and/or experience in programming with Python (with a knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming).
Permanent Residency or US Citizenship required.
