Position description

The Registration Representative may be responsible for the accurate check-in/admissions of incoming patients in the hospital setting as well ED setting. This includes the verification of patient demographic information, collection of insurance data, the identification and/or creation of appropriate accounts, and the collection of indicated co-payments and/or share of cost.

The Registration Representative is required to ensure patient safety using positive patient identification protocols and obtain the appropriate consents as required. This role requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines as well as established productivity standards to support the work unit's performance expectations.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree is required

OR A High School Diploma or GED is required with 2+ years of relevant experience is required

Additional qualifications

Additional Requirements include: Ability to read and communicate effectively; Basic computer/keyboarding skills, intermediate mathematic competency; Good written and verbal communication skills; Knowledge of proper phone etiquette and phone handling skills.

Position also requires good communication skills. Prior desk, appointment, or secretarial experience and a working knowledge of scheduling systems and procedures are preferred.

Must have the ability to interact on a professional level with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of and experience using an Epic RC/EMR system is preferred.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $15.66 per hour.

The RN care coordinator will complete one home visit per patient to ensure a safe transition from hospital to home. Other patient interactions will be through office visits, telephone and patient online portal. The focus of the care provided will be on coaching and skills transfer to increase the patient/care giver's capacity to manage chronic conditions to reduce preventable re-hospitalizations and improve patient/caregiver quality of life. The Registered Nurse (RN) Care Coordinator works within an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care for a defined population of patients. The goals of care include supporting improvement in health outcomes, empowerment of patients and families to engage in health seeking behaviors and disease prevention, and supporting self-management of chronic conditions. Care is provided in a holistic, patient-centered approach across settings spanning the continuum of care, with an emphasis on assisting patients to seek an appropriate level of service when needed and reducing the overall cost of care. The RN Care Coordinator will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for an assigned population of patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses in Care Coordination and Transition Management (2016) are reflected. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of responsibilities of their role. Qualifications BSN degree required. The degree must be accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or National League for Nursing (NLN)]. A minimum of three years current adult-care experience in ambulatory (preferred) or acute care required. If driving is required, a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle record will be required. Additional qualifications Experience with adult patients living with chronic health conditions preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word) required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, and weekends. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
