The Registration Counselor is responsible and accountable for providing Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship. Providing friendly, rapid and accurate patient registration into the computer system upon arrival, as well as providing registration paperwork and plate to the patient care areas.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
Obtain accurate information from patient/family in a pleasant, efficient manner and input into the computer system.
Verification of insurance information on all patient files containing insurance.
Recommend financial assistance and aid in completing financial statements and applications as needed for programs such as Charity, Medicaid, and other appropriate financial opportunities.
Bad debt screening.
Charity screening and qualifications.
Price estimates and quotes.
TOS collections to include co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to accurately type 45 words per minute.
Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
Medical terminology desired.
Previous office experience preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs preferred.
Ability to prioritize and organize to maximum quality, value and service.
Preferred working knowledge of managed care payors and Medicare regulations.
Preferred experience working in multiple systems : STAR, MedPay, SCI, TRACE, OF, DDE, Multiple payor websites, etc.
American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required for associates working in hospital locations only.
