The Ann S. The Opportunity

The Registrar Office Assistant plays a crucial role in the efficient functioning of the Bowers CIS Student Services team. Reporting directly to the Deputy Registrar, this role serves as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff seeking assistance, information, or support related to registrar services. The Registrar Office Assistant will manage various tasks related to course registration, room reservations, and overall registrar office operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff seeking assistance with registrar-related inquiries, both in person and virtually.

  • Support the smooth operations of course registration processes, including pre-enrollment, add/drop, and any related administrative tasks.

  • Coordinate room reservations in Bowers CIS spaces, including Gates Hall, college-designated space in Rhodes Hall, and the forthcoming new Bowers CIS building.

  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of registrar office records, databases, and systems.

  • Provide administrative support to the Deputy Registrar and other members of the registrar team as needed.

  • Collaborate with other departments and teams within Bowers CIS to ensure seamless delivery of student services.

This is a full-time, 3-year term (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY. This position follows a 3:2 campus-to-home hybrid arrangement that is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday with the flexibility to work occasional evening and/or weekend events, most notably on the Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend to support Bowers CIS and University Commencement activities.

What We Need

We are looking for a team member who is customer service oriented, detail oriented, and proficient with technology. Additionally, you will:

  • Hold an Associate's degree and two to four years' relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Have experience in-and/or demonstrated commitment to-supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Display a professional and courteous manner and customer-service mindset.

  • Have attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage and track projects and tasks, juggle multiple priorities, and stay on top of heavy email traffic.

  • Utilize excellent written communication skills (including error-free spelling and grammar) and effectively draft, write, and edit professional and courteous emails and other communications.

  • Be open to learning new technology and systems.

  • Have a strong working command of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, mail merge function, and outlook calendar management, as well as a facility for learning new technology and systems.

  • Manage projects and handle administrative challenges.

  • Utilize sound professional judgment and exercise a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential information in accordance with university policies and federal regulations (FERPA).

  • Be committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, as well as have an aptitude to connect and work with students, staff, and faculty of all backgrounds.

  • Experience in a college or university Registrar office.

  • Experience with 25Live and/or CCI.

  • Familiarity with Cornell university policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role

remotely 2 days per week and on-campus 3 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.

  • This position is based in Ithaca, New York. Employees who work remotely may receive

multiple W-2 Forms depending on their work location. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholding for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside of New York State.
