About the Job

The position of Registrar and Curriculum Coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean of Graduate Education and oversees work related to the creation and revision of degree programs and courses, course scheduling, adjunct instructor onboarding and support, and teaching assistant allocations. This role manages the registration of degree, certificate, and non-degree students across multiple platforms. This work requires clear, timely communication with many departments at the Humphrey School, including staff members from Academic Programs; Career and Student Success; Financial Services and Human Resources; Graduate Faculty and adjunct instructors; and School leadership.

The Registrar and Curriculum Coordinator provides guidance on the development and implementation of the Humphrey School's curriculum in fulfillment of the educational missions of the Humphrey School and the University of Minnesota. This position 1) schedules and coordinates all collegiate curriculum and instruction activities; 2) provides service and advice on academic administrative matters related to curriculum and instruction; 3) serves as an administrative liaison between Humphrey School administration, faculty, and staff and other University departments and professional associations in matters of curriculum and instruction; and 4) serves as the principal contact and support for adjunct faculty.

Essential Functions:

1.Schedule and coordinate collegiate curriculum and instruction activities: (30%)

  • Develop, maintain, and improve the School's curriculum and instruction management infrastructure to aid in planning, documentation, and reporting functions.

  • Manage annual academic course schedule development in conjunction with key stakeholders.

  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of School's curricula and course offerings in catalogs, websites, and other communications both inside and outside the University.

  • Develop collaborative relationships between the School and other University and non-University departments, offices, and organizations to improve the delivery of curriculum and instruction.

  • Support program reviews and accreditations, as necessary.

2.Provide service and advising on academic administrative matters related to curriculum and instruction: (30%)

  • Coordinate the Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee, including working with the Assistant Dean in preparing agendas; assuring maintenance of minutes and records of meetings; and assisting in preparation of reports and communications from the EPCC for Graduate Faculty Meetings and other groups.

  • Advise and provide technical expertise to the Curriculum Committee, the Deans' Office, and faculty on curriculum and course development and approval.

  • Draft, review, and revise Humphrey School academic policies to ensure compliance with all relevant University of Minnesota policies and regulations.

  • Provide guidance to Humphrey School community on University of Minnesota and Humphrey School policies to support academic integrity and compliance.

  • Conduct research, analysis, and reporting as requested by School leadership for curriculum and instruction strategic planning, assessment, and decision-making purposes (including curricular goals, resource needs, adjunct instructor compensation, and instructor and teaching assistant assignments).

  • Collaborate with professional advisers and students to solve registration issues.

  • Supervise student staff member(s) to carry out data entry and support processes related to curriculum and instruction.

3.Serve as an administrative liaison between Humphrey School administration, faculty, and staff and other University departments and professional associations in matters of curriculum and instruction. (15%)

  • Provide guidance to instructors on instructional resources, tools, and deadlines through communications and website.

  • Oversee Curriculum and Instruction budget line and provide data for Adjunct Faculty and TA budget lines.

  • Collaborate with other University of Minnesota departments and professional associations on curriculum, instruction and classroom scheduling matters (e.g., updating CourseDog for all graduate majors, minors, and certificates to permit college GPAS on-boarding).

  • Identify and recommend best practices from other colleges and universities and professional organizations.

  • Represent the Assistant Dean and School on collegiate and University committees.

4.Serve as the principal contact and support for adjunct faculty. (15%)

  • Support the Assistant Dean and program faculty in identifying, recruiting and onboarding adjunct faculty.

  • Oversee the annual update and distribution of the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.

  • Communicate School and University news and updates to adjunct faculty.

  • Serve as first point of contact to support adjunct faculty and refer resources.

  • Coordinate annual Adjunct Faculty Appreciation Reception and other adjunct engagement programming.

5.Track, compile, and translate data. (10%)

  • Track and compile data related to instruction and academic technology, including exit surveys, and internal surveys.

  • Create reports, dashboards, charts, graphs, and/or presentations and recommend strategies to improve operations.

  • Lead communications about data for the academic programs and technology team.

Education: Bachelor's degree/Master's degree preferred

5-8 years experience

Time to proficiency: 1 year

Provide example: Humphrey School instructors frequently have questions regarding teaching at the University. This position addressed the problem by creating new resources and communications and improving the quality and accessibility of existing resources.

Independence: Existing practices are used as guidelines to determine work methods; incumbent works independently and resolves most problems without assistance.

Example: Position oversees the creation of the college's annual class schedule for the upcoming year based on consultation with and input from the Assistant Dean, the School's areas, and individual faculty members. A schedule is crafted which fulfills degree program and certificate requirements and

meets the needs of the University and instructors. Position monitors the number of proposed classes

against expected future enrollments and demand and makes recommendations.

Physical Environment: This is a hybrid based position with approximately 2 -3 days per week working in an office environment / no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.

The targeted salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 annually commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in relevant field and three (3) or more years of related professional experience demonstrating strong administrative skills and significant authority and responsibility

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting skills

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects from conception to execution with attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient computer skills, including spreadsheet and database software experience

  • Experience developing reports and analyses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with University and Graduate School policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated experience working independently and managing multiple deadlines and priorities

  • Ability to problem-solve proactively and use sound judgment and initiative

  • Supervisory experience
