Preferred Qualifications
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in the state of Georgia
1-2 years experience in a small animal hospital setting as an RVT
Experience working within a team environment completing multiple tasks throughout each day
Interest in working with Sr. Veterinary students in the day to day procedures of a high volume service
Position Summary
This individual will be performing the duties of an internal medicine service technician, patient rounds, patients status reports, organizing the receiving schedule, technician appointments, monitoring records, and teaching students.

Expanded knowledge of skills required for licensure as a registered veterinary technician in the state of Georgia
Physical Demands
Stressful situations, prolonged standing, crouching or kneeling, lifting heavy patients that may exceed 50 pounds.

Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
Technical duties. The technician will perform the following technical duties; otic lavage, wound clipping, prepping, flushing, bandaging, casts, sedate, suture skin, dental procedures, catheterize, venipuncture, cystocentesis, injections, medicating, CPR, maintaining of airway and circulatory system management, drug dosage calculations, reconstituting and administering drugs including controlled substances, I.V. fluids, assist clinicians with neurology examinations.

Diagnostic procedures. Assist and/or perform, and train senior year Veterinary students, Interns, Residents and Faculty on obtaining specimen samples and performing diagnostic procedures, i.e.; glucose monitoring, skin scraping, biopsies, allergy testing, fungal interpretations, cystocentesis, endoscopy, electrocardiology, echocardiography, biopsies, cytology preps, etc.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
Communication. Communicating with clients via phone or during receiving and obtaining a thorough history of their pet's condition.
Perform or assist students and clinicians on patient receiving and in obtaining patient information. Assist with scheduling appointments, set up consults with clinicians, client call back on lab results, treatment outcomes, concerns, and documentation of treatment results. Keeping up with the status of the patient's bill, the estimate, the deposit and the method of payment upon discharge.
Keeping the accounting department appraised of the situation as well as the clinician and student on the case. Communication and providing completed request to various services in the hospital; anesthesia, surgery, radiology, neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, clinical pathology, etc.

Perform laboratory procedures. Perform and assess specimen samples with various types of equipment and testing kits (PCV, TS, BG, Cross Match, Blood Type, Cytology, FeLV, FIV, Parvo, etc).

Perform as a surgical scrub nurse. Scrub in and assist in surgical procedures. Knowledge of how to work around a sterile environment and knowledge of instruments and their use.

Performing anesthesia. Administration of anesthetic agents and monitoring patients while under anesthesia for procedures demanded of the particular service

Medical records. The technician will be responsible for maintaining proper medical records for patients.
These will include the summary of procedures performed as well as notation as to client contact. The technician will be responsible for tracking and documenting long term therapeutic outcomes of various treatments. Entering lab work into the clin. path. computer system and pulling results. Pulling up clients records on the UVIS computer system and entering procedure and consultation fees.
