In collaboration with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, Liberty Healthcare endeavors to establish a new state-of-the-art 10-bed inpatient mental health unit within the Maguire Correctional Facility, located in Redwood City, CA.

As a Registered Nurse with Liberty Healthcare at the Maguire Correctional Facility, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to adult inmates who have acute or chronic mental illness.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Providing medical and psychiatric nursing care to patients

  • Delivering a full range of nursing services including conducting daily sick call; evaluating / triaging patient health complaints; examining patients; determining medical and psychiatric needs; interpreting, recording and reporting conditions of significance to the treatment team; and dispensing medications according to Physician orders

  • Documenting patient encounters and changes in patient mental health status

  • Actively participating in interdisciplinary treatment team planning meetings

  • Collaborating with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, RNs, LCSWs, LMFTs and other ancillary clinicians and security staff

  • Intervening in crisis situations when patients exhibit acute psychiatric symptoms

Registered Nurses at the Maguire Correctional Facility have the option to provide per diem services for the following schedules:

  • AM Shift | 6:45am
  • 3:00pm
  • PM Shift | 2:45pm
  • 11:00pm
  • NOC Shift | 10:45pm
  • 7:00am

Moreover, this position will afford outstanding resume-building experience as well as an opportunity to significantly improve the health of individuals who are struggling with mental illness.

Well-qualified candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Possess a professional license in California as a Registered Nurse

  • Possess 2 years prior work experience providing nursing services

  • Willingness to work within a locked jail setting and undergo an extensive background check process

Your Role: From diagnostic samples to acutely accurate results, in turn providing life-sustaining and life-saving treatments for patients is all in a days work. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant you will play a vital role in the process. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant you will assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist with routine specimen processing in accordance with protocols established by Ascend Clinical (AC). You will process specimens, perform some test preparation, specimen verification and tracking, all related clerical functions and general clean-up tasks. You will also assist in placing specimens on automated instruments and bringing them to the Clinical Laboratory Scientist for review, documentation and computer verification. The successful applicant will be able to perform these essential duties satisfactorily. The following are representative of these duties. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Knows and complies with AC policies and procedures: general policies and Exposure Control (bloodborne pathogens), Chemical Hazard, Illness and Injury Prevention Program and Quality Assurance Program. Understands the hazards associated with failing to follow those procedures. * Understands laboratory workflow and the role of Preanalytics in the laboratory. * Organizes work for large batch processing appropriately. Prioritizes tasks and organizes work for efficient completion. * Documents in a clear, concise and thorough manner. Sees that all paperwork is completed properly during the shift. * Performs all tasks necessary for the safe, smooth and efficient operation of the unit. This may include but is not limited to the following: * Unpacks, sorts, incoming samples. * Receives and processes specimens for routine analysis. * Assist with specimen handling, archiving, and centrifuging. * Organize reference testing for scheduled pickup. * Works with Client Services to resolve problem specimens. * Assists in the following under direct supervision of a CLS. * Sets up automated instruments. * Performs quality control procedures on instruments. * Performs routine testing on automated instruments. * Performs minor hardware troubleshooting on automated instruments. * Actively participates in facility's Quality Assurance program. * Assists in orientation of new staff members, as directed by Management. * Assumes responsibility for special projects, as directed by Management. Your Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED required, college preferred. * Prior job experience recommended, but not required. * Background in chemistry, math, medical terminology, knowledge of specimen preparation techniques, and principles of operation of common laboratory instruments. * Ability to follow instructions with accuracy and perform detailed tasks thoroughly and completely. * Capability of performing repetitive work with a high degree of precision. * Capability of working biologic specimens in a safe manner. * Capability of maintaining high standards for all production work with timely completion. * Good organizational skills. * Able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate.
