West Houston Medical Center is currently looking for a DIABETIC EDUCATOR - Department of Education
The Diabetic Patient Educator is an expert with the clinical interventions needed for patients related to diabetes and disease management. This individual will provide diabetes management services to inpatients and outpatients with attention to diabetes treatment modalities and education. The diabetes educator, as a member of the health team, will collaborate with the caregiver, manager, physician, and all disciplines to diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care of an individual or group of patients utilizing network resources, standards of practice, research studies and available clinical support to change and improve practice.
A minimum of three years of experience working in a clinical setting with patients having diabetes.
At least one-year experience in education, preferred.
Graduate of accredited college or university.
Current Texas State licensure required.
Registered Nurse Required
BSN required or working on BSN
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
Certified Diabetic Educator a plus or willing to work towards certification.
Excellent communication and teaching skills.
Spanish speaking/bilingual a plus.
