Responsible for assisting the physician and nursing personnel with direct patient care, Perform nursing assessments and assist providers with examinations. Communicate effectively with other peers for continuity of care. Maintain confidential electronic employee medical records. Maintain satisfactory relations with all departments and units in accordance with mission, vision and core values of UnityPoint Health DM and Methodist Medical Center. Perform other tasks as assigned and required, both administrative and clinical.

Examine and assess ill patients and determine urgency of care.
Order necessary tests, assist with clinics, monitor and enter lab results.
Assist with outreach clinics.
Authorizations for tests and procedures
Patient medication refills

Assist in case management with multidisciplinary teams involved as necessary
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records on computer and written as needed.
Communicate to physicians, co-workers, patients, visitors and other departments in a professional manner.

This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the UPHDM Hospital Emergency Incident Command System. Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Previous clinical nursing experience over hospital experience is preferred.
Current Iowa licensure in good standing to practice as a registered nurse. Licenses and certifications must be maintained.
Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
Microsoft Office basic computer skills.
Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities. May drive a UPH vehicle, rental, or own vehicle.
