Job Responsibilities/Duties: he Registered Nurse/Float Pool/PRN is a flexible and experienced professional RN who is competent to work within one of the following specialty groups:
Medical Surgical Units Women's Services Post-Partum Labor and Delivery/High Risk Prenatal /Post-Partum Pediatrics/PICU NICU ICU/Telemetry Emergency Department Emergency Department/ICU Cardiac Cath Lab, G.I.
Lab, Radiology Operating Room Post Anesthesia Care Unit The assignment will be based on the PRN clinical skills, critical thinking, and expertise, including required certifications.
The PRN is a clinical nurse who utilizes the nursing process to provide safe and therapeutic patient care.
A PRN functions as a productive member of the interdisciplinary team, carries out established policies, procedures and standards to meet the needs of high acuity patients.
A PRN advocates for the advancement of the mission, vision and values of the organization, i.e.
promotes patient throughput, the optimal patient experience and integrates evidenced based nursing into clinical practice.

Qualifications: Minimum three (3) years current clinical experience as a registered nurse in an acute-care setting.
Validated competencies in the following areas: clinical practice, evidence based practice, research, Quality/Process Improvement, education, and leadership (i.e.
preceptor / mentor / charge responsibilities) EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing LICENSURES/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing Must successfully complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification 30 days of employment or transfer Upon hire, see PRN Program Agreement for specific required certifications.
Required certifications will be designated based on PRN assignment.

As an integral part of the Ambulatory Care Services Float Team, provide smooth outpatient flow resulting in optimum patient satisfaction and clinic operation. The Ambulatory Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant provides assistance to practitioners in delivering health care services including routine, emergency, and specialty encounters. Escorts patients to exam rooms, obtains and appropriately records patient vital signs/medication list, monitors patient flow, assists physicians with minor clinical procedures, performs EKGs, and prepares patient chart with pertinent medical information as directed by physician. Schedules diagnostic tests and surgeries as ordered by the physician as needed. Performs various administrative duties, including answering phone patient calls, returning phone calls, receiving and sorting in-coming faxes, obtaining prior authorizations. Ensures patient's right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality is maintained. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control policies. Must be highly flexible, enthusiastic, have a proactive approach, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work efficiently under pressure and work efficiently in a team environment. Must be comfortable with computers. Must be willing to travel throughout the Keck Medicine of USC Community (on campus, satellite practices) to cover practice integrations, vacations, illnesses, holidays, and leave of absences.
