Job Summary:

Provides direct nursing care to critically ill patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Other Duties as assigned
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and age-related needs in order to provide individualized care to the patient.
Delegates aspects of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their level of education and expertise in order to meet patients' needs and to maximize staff performance.
Participates in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds. Demonstrates knowledge of patients' condition and is able to provide appropriate input to meet desired outcomes for the appropriate patient population.
Reflects ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice (2010), ANA Code of Ethics (2010), and ANA Social Policy Statement (2008).
Develops, implements and revises individualized plans of care.
Participates in activities for professional growth and development outside of patient care.

Qualifications

Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s):
Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

Associate Degree required, Bachelor Degree preferred and Critical care experience
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing

Work Experience:

Critical care experience.

Job Summary: * Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Responsibilities: * Assists with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties. * Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. * Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing. * Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment. * Responsible for performing such duties as phlebotomy, patient scheduling, EKG's, collection of specimens, taking vital signs and assisting physicians or other providers under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. * Assists with clerical functions to facilitate departmental operations including answering phone and scheduling patients and processing orders. * Responsible for maintenance of supplies, equipment, stocking exam rooms and monitoring environment. * Other Duties as assigned Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or Medical Assistant Certification required (CMA,CCMA, RMA ). (An active CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification may also be considered) 1 year experience as Medical Assistant preferred. Epic Experience preferred. Must possess effective communication skills. Competency in basic medical assisting skills. Including, rooming patients, assisting provider with exams, performing hearing tests, answering phones, scheduling appointments and surgeries. Strong working knowledge of medical terminology. Strong computer skills including solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Experience with medical software preferred. Job Description: Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensures the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room to each operation; assists the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; and assists with cleaning operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment, and used material. Minimum Requirements Education Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technician program Licensure, Certification, Registration Must be certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Language Skills Must read, write and speak English Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements * Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field required. * Knowledge and practice of basic care and patient safety concepts. * Application of the principles of asepsis in a manner that provides optimal patient care. * Excellent interpersonal/communication skills. * Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation required. * Knowledge of various surgical procedures with the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize the problems encountered by the surgeon.
