Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Coordinator (Intensive Care Unit, Nights, 0.9) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Coordinate patient care activities on the nursing unit, provide immediate clinical oversight of staff members.

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patients' care.

  • Serve as a role model for staff and assist staff in following established, best practice standards.

  • Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students.

  • Actively participate in performance improvement activities within the unit and with other departments.

  • Lead and coordinate teams, appropriately delegate, coordinate care and collaborate with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.

  • Make appropriate patient care and unit assignments and delegate tasks according to staff competencies.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire

  • All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) must obtain a BSN or higher within 3 years of hire. RNs with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN

  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered. If RN holds a multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire

  • The following certifications are required within 12 months of hire:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification

  • Critical Care in Nursing certification (CCRN) within 3 years of of hire

  • 12 months experience with like population of hiring unit and demonstrated leadership accomplishments

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Completion of Critical Care coursework

  • Intensive Care Unit coursework

  • Basic arrhythmia course
