Join our Pediatric Cardiology Practice with this exciting opportunity as a Triage Nurse!
Responsibilities
The Triage Nurse will be part of a care coordination team supporting general care processes alongside the providers.
Manages nurse-directed patient telephone calls
Evaluates and assesses patient's health care needs based on patient's signs and symptoms.
Obtains appropriate input and direction from the provider as needed to determine the bestclinical course of action and recommendations for specific patient health care needs.
Accurately documents in electronic health record (EHR), symptoms/complaints, nursing assessment, advice provided, patient/caller response, and follow-up.
Manage prescription refills per protocol.
Coordinate Stat and follow-up appointments on the provider schedules with scheduling staff.
Provide patient education: e.g., acute disease, symptom management. Must have knowledge of disease processes, normal growth and development of all age groups.
Must operate with cultural sensitivity with respect to working with persons and groups of diverse racial, ethnic, economic and social backgrounds
Perform other nursing duties as assigned by Nurse Manager.
Initiate BLS measures on decompensated patients in clinic.
Monitor patients requiring escalated care in clinic.
Qualifications
Must possess a current/valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state that they are providing services.
Maintain and possess a state RN license.
Must maintain CPR certification.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
