Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course Experience: One year relevant experience Preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current RN licensure in appropriate state Required CPI certification within three months of hire. Required PALS for adolescent unit Preferred Additional Skills Required: Ability to perform all CPI physical holds.

Ability to care for Behavioral Health age specific patients within facility. Ability to establish and maintain control of violent patients, defend self and others against violent assaults, ability to react appropriately in psychiatric crises, ability use violent and non-violent restraints per policy and procedure. Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Ability to intervene in a therapeutic manner for behavior patterns demonstrated by patients with a mental illness, personality disorder, substance abuse or developmental disabilities. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, side effects and treatment interventions, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, mental health concepts, and evidence based therapeutic interventions and treatments

VIEW JOBS 12/13/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-13T00:00 Description of Work This is a Registered Nurse position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, NC (Rowan County), which is a Medium/Minimum male prison facility Housing 1042 inmates. Employees in this class are characterized by the performance of professional nursing care and treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols. They develop nursing care plans based on diagnosis and pertinent medical information, patient and family needs such as conducting nursing assessments; developing, implementing and evaluating treatment plans; and providing patient care and education through case management. Employees in this class work independently to carry out nursing care processes and set up an environment to assist patients in obtaining maximum level of functioning or recovery. Employees in this class may also be responsible for serving as a "charge nurse" overseeing the daily nursing care activities on an assigned shift or in a preceptor role, coordinating all licensed and non-licensed staff duties. Employees in this class administer medications and treatments as directed by a physician. Employees in this class are responsible for appropriate treatment and medical documentation. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level Professional Nurse or Nurse Supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Listed below are the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) associated with this position. These KSAs, along with the minimum education and experience listed, are required in order to be deemed "eligible" for the position.
