Must have at least two years of supervisory experience or ten years of experience in School Health. Must have a Florida RN license.
This is advanced level work and /or supervisory work. At this level employees independently perform the most complex difficult assignments under limited supervision.
The work requires applying a logical or scientific understanding of business practices and procedures in order to analyze and resolve problems of a specialized or professional nature in a particular field, or in a wide range of applications. The employee must exhibit skilled decision-making techniques in evaluating, planning or integrating analysis of data to formulate solutions, strategies, policies or recommendation of a specialized or technical nature.

This position is responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions. This position provides supervision of assigned staff, coordination and implementation of Full Service School Health Program and Department of Health School Health Program as needed.
Supervises activities and meetings relating to performance and functions of the Full Service Program. The employee in this position works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse Consultant.
Assesses the health needs of students through screening procedures, analysis of records, and examination of students referred by school personnel. Through referral and health counseling, assists students and families in obtaining needed health care.
Follows up all referrals to see that needed care is obtained. Assesses understanding of a health problem or behavior. Encourages adequate immunization of all students, assisting school in meeting immunization requirements according to Florida Law.
Initiates and maintains health records for each student referred. Provides instruction and training to school personnel and students on health matters.
Motivates and trains employees to improve quality of work performed as measured by supplemental school health services program standards. Plans assignments and supervises the work of Registered Nurses and support staff in all aspects including workloads, workflows, deadlines and time utilization.
Evaluates subordinates through establishment of appraisal criteria by observation and communication with employee. Assists in planning and conducting orientation programs and in-service educational programs for paraprofessionals, workers and volunteers.
Advises school nursing staff on all aspects of school health nursing and case management of students with health related problems. Provides information and reviews with staff new policies and procedures and assists in teaching school health nursing skills.
Assists with orientation of new staff members. Assists in planning programs to achieve these goals. Attends and participates in education / inservice programs for the purpose of keeping abreast of current health knowledge.
