The Idaho Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) is recruiting for a full-time Staff Development Coordinator at the State Veterans Home in Post Falls.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse Sr., who identifies and prioritizes the facility's educational needs in an effort to take proper care for the residents and meet regulatory compliance.

Example of Duties:

  • Work closely with the facility's leaders in developing a training plan that addresses all regulatory requirements and develop educational calendars in accordance with the plan.

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and oversee orientation programs for all personnel.

  • Develop, schedule, and direct refresher training, as necessary, for all employees. Track attendance/completion of training to ensure that all required training is received by all employees in a timely manner.

  • Review educational content to ensure the information reflects current standards of practice and facility policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with department managers for developing competencies required for meeting resident's needs. Assist with evaluating competencies, depending on the knowledge-based, technical, or behavioral nature of the competency.

  • Schedule trainings with flexibility to ensure limited disruption of resident care, and ample opportunity for staff to attend.

  • Maintain all training records, reports, instructional materials, and speaker qualifications related to each educational program.

  • Certified CPR instructor.

  • Interviewing and hiring nursing staff.

  • Nursing light duty assessor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performs professional nursing care that may include:

  • Client assessment

  • Care plan development

  • Health education

  • Clinical activities

  • Case management

  • Direct nursing services

  • Charge nurse responsibilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho as defined by Idaho Code 54-1408 or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418, in one of the following compact states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin

  • Experience performing nursing assessments and developing and implementing care plans.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good knowledge of occupational injury prevention programs

  • Good knowledge of environmental contaminants, exposure pathways, and health effects associated with environmental exposure

  • Experience developing and delivering health education services and materials

  • Certification to teach CPR
