Position Summary &

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse Sepsis Coordinator Responsible for knowing the patients at the unit/microsystem level, interprofessional communication to meet patients' needs, and lateral integration of care. Accountable for patient safety and quality outcomes for a narrowly focused patient population in a particular unit/clinical setting. Assimilates and applies research-based information to design, implement, and evaluate patient care with a point of care focus.

Minimum Position Requirements:

1.Licenses and Certifications:

a. Current RN license to practice in the State of Texas or RN Compact State License

b. BLS (AHA)

c. ACLS (AHA)

2.Education

a. BSN in nursing required.

b. Master's a plus

3.Experience

a. Minimum of two years of RN experience in an acute care setting.

a. Communication skills requirements

The Registered Nurse performs professional nursing work in providing clinical health care to County residents. Work involves coordinating and providing services of an assigned public health clinic, including obtaining personal and routine medical information from clients, administering medications and vaccinations, and counseling clients on proper hygiene and health care practices. Examples of Duties Provides client education. Communicates test results, responds to patient inquiries via telephone, and schedules follow-up appointments as needed. Performs phlebotomy, specimen collection and processes lab requisitions. Disposes of all biological waste appropriately. Ensures patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines, and complete patient consent documentation for procedures and records requests. Administers immunizations. Regular and punctual attendance is required. Investigates, controls, and prevents TB disease and latent TB infection (LTBI). Conducts control measures for Airborne pathogen TB. Performs Mantoux TB skin testing. Performs TB Interferon-gamma assay testing (QuantiFERON, T-Spot). Collects sample using sputum induction. Performs and assists medical provider with diagnostics testing, screening and assessments of Hansen's disease clients. Educates clients and their family about the disease process, treatment, and management of complications. Understands Hansen's disease multiple drug therapy. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree and a minimum one year of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse. Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment. Must be cross-trained in different immunizations within 90 days of employment. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
