  • Under the supervision of the Director, the Wound Care RN performs the primary function of Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients at the Advanced Wound Center (AWC).

  • The RN will primarily provide patient care and handles intake and discharge processes for the Wound Care Center patients as scheduled.

  • This position may also serve as Case Manager to a group of assigned Wound Care patients, as assigned and depending on the Wound Care Center setup.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) as well as, working knowledge of computerized nursing systems (EPIC, I-Heal etc.).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Show basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.

  • Initiate a nursing assessment of patient's condition upon admission.

  • Record assessment data in an orderly fashion and communicate pertinent information.

  • Assess, determine classification, and measure wounds accurately and in accordance with policy.

  • Assess compliance to the Clinical Pathway and communicate to the Physician.

  • Identify patient care situations that require intervention, implement nursing actions and evaluate responses.

  • Document a plan of care, in collaboration with Physician, for all assigned patients

  • Formulate desired outcomes specific to patient's problems and AWC protocols.

  • Implement wound care and HBO protocols as clinically indicated.

  • Complete new patient review form and participate in weekly meeting

  • Accurately complete the superbill and ensure that all orders and charges are initiated accurately

  • In collaboration with the Physicians and other AWC employees, revise the plan of care and continuously reassess and evaluate until desired outcome is obtained.

  • Complete the 4-week reviews in the Multi-Disciplinary Plan of Care and communicate findings with Physician. Revise Plan of Care as indicated and consistent with Clinical Pathway..

  • Perform Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) related duties as assigned, upon completion of Healogics Hyperbaric training. Perform Hyperbaric Safety Director duties once Healogics Safety Director training is completed.

  • Performs other duties as required, such as: participating in quality improvement initiatives, providing education to patient/caregiver, and serving as patient advocate in delivery and coordination of the patient care, etc.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. ADN or BSN

Knowledge/ Skill/Abilities: Registered Nurse (RN)

Experience: Minimum of 2 years medical/surgical experience; Wound Care Certification or experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Oklahoma or applicable Multi-state RN license (upon hire)
  • BLS (upon hire)
  • ACLS Preferred
  • PALS Preferred
