The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing.

The RN utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department scope of service. The RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader and sentry. The RN collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter-professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.

Education: Graduation from accredited school of nursing; BSN required or must obtain within 5 years of hire.

Proof of enrollment required within 6 months of hire. RNs with min. 2 years of acute care hospital experience may elect to forgo the BSN requirement and sign a Professional Certification MOU which must be obtained with 3 years of hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Valid Ohio RN license

Current AHA BLS certification required at the time of hire.

Experience: No prior job-related work experience required

Knowledge/Skills:

o Must be able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor

o Basic computer knowledge

o Strong organization skills

o Effective interpersonal and communication skills

The Flight Nurse utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to provide safe and rapid transport of critically ill or injured patients by air ambulance or mobile intensive care to a higher level medical treatment facility. The Flight Nurse provides advanced emergency/critical care during medical transport and may also provide nursing care for patients throughout Premier Health. This position also include public relations and medical education functions. Flight Nurse is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards. Certified EMT-B OR Professional Nursing Certification The following certifications are required within the specified time frame following hire: a. 90 Days- ITLS or PHTLS b. 1 year - NRP, ATLS (audit) c. 2 years - CAMTS approved Nursing certification and Certified EMT-P in the State of Ohio Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent, active RN experience in an Emergency Department or Critical Care setting. Previous Pre-hospital or critical care transport experience preferred. * Special Consideration: If the candidate has a minimum of one year of previous experience with CareFlight Air & Mobile Services as a Paramedic, they must have an additional 4000 hours critical care experience as an RN in an ICU or an emergency department to be eligible to reapply to the program as an RN. This is in lieu of the above required 3 years' experience.
