As a Registered Nurse (RN) for our team, you will be responsible for providing direct and compassionate nursing care to our residents. Additionally, this position will include supervision of the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may also be required by the Director of Nursing to maintain the highest degree of quality care at all times.

Requirements for Consideration include:

  • Registered Nurse with current state license.

  • Must have current/active CPR Certification.

  • Confirm that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.

  • Excellent technical, assessment, and documentation skills.

  • Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.

We are seeking a per diem Registered Nurse to join our team in our Howland clinic. This is a Monday through Friday position with no weekend, nights, or holiday hours. As a member of The US Oncology Network, The Hope Center for Cancer Care is a part of the nation's largest network of integrated community-based oncology practices. This team member will work closely with our physicians and play a key role in our mission to provide the highest quality experience to our patients. Scope: Under direct supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Note: OCN with chemo/bio and immunotherapy experience is preferred, but not required. Essential skills include effective communication, astute assessment skills, peripheral and central IV access, and most importantly the RN candidate must possess both compassion and a strong desire for ongoing learning of chemo/biotherapy and immunotherapy regimens. Essential Duties & Responsibilities of Registered Nurse includes: * Administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive drugs including hydration under the direction and supervision of a physician. * Maintains knowledge of reimbursement procedures. Takes responsibility for administration code charge reconciliation. Assures physician approval, pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies. * Demonstrates knowledge of infusion pump use and maintenance. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management. * Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous catheter devices. * Administers all medications using correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy, and medications, to include, but not limited to: venipuncture, central venous access and infusion devices. * Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the electronic medical record. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician. * Delegates duties and provides direction to ancillary staff, including medical assistants, pharmacy technicians, schedulers, and office staff. Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the electronic medical record. * Assesses patient/family needs and provides detailed teaching of pathophysiology of the disease, expected action, side effects and side effect management of chemo and biotherapies as well as other supportive therapies. Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary. Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmpharmacy queue, fax requests, telephone and physician communication. * Maintains a clean work environment and restocks the supply area as needed. Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed. * Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen. * Participates in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations. Maintains patient confidentiality. Minimum Qualifications: * Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred * Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in an oncology environment * Current or pending Oncology certification preferred * Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer is preferred * Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state * Current CPR certification required Category: Clinical The US Oncology Network is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
