Our 88-bed Pavilion adjacent to the campus is the largest Baker Act Receiving facility in the county that accepts children while our outpatient services include a partial hospitalization program (PHP), and both adult and adolescent intensive outpatient programs (IOP and AIOP). Our additional services include: a 24-hour emergency department, critical care, comprehensive diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehabilitation, orthopedic care, wound management and a pain management center.

Description:

Provides professional nursing care within the Behavioral Health Department, coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care. Treatment of Psychiatric patients.

Our nurses who work within the Psychiatric unit care for Adult Behavioral Health Patients. Registered nurse responsibilities include all aspects of patient care. This care includes monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and respiration, as well as managing the pain and nausea.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing preferred

  • Related acute care experience preferred

  • CPI is required

Other Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Florida or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions).

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification.

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support Course (PALS) and certification

What you bring to the table: Education: * Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing Experience: * Experience in the provision of nursing services in a psychiatric setting required Licenses/Certifications: * RN license in state of practice * Current CPR Certification * Any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract What you will do: * Provide psychiatric nursing services under the direction of the Psychiatrist and Director of Nursing * Maintain effective communications with the Facility and The Company staff * Completion of specific duties and responsibilities as designated by the Psychiatrist and Mental Health Director/Mental Health Coordinator and as listed in the Post Duties. These duties include assessments, participation in treatment teams, committees, specific medication administration, psychiatrist appointment coordination, staff and patient education, infirmary care management planning and implementation, and functioning as needed as a liaison between the Mental Health and Medical Departments * Implement specific treatments as ordered by the staff psychiatrist * Provision of medication education to patients to inform them of the nature of psychotropic medication, the need for compliance with physician orders in taking medication, signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions, and the need for patients to report problems with medication * Responds to a code or health emergency within standard guidelines. * Monitor patients for compliance with medication and for follow up by Psychiatrist as needed * Provision of training in human behavior and/or mental health issues to institutional staff in accordance with institution's training program and as assigned by the Mental Health Director/Mental Health Coordinator * Provision of education to patients regarding health, nutrition, and other adaptive behaviors, with the goal of fostering personal growth and well-being.
