RESPONSIBLE FOR:

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate of a nursing program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

New Graduates of a nursing program eligible

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable. Bachelor's degree preferred. Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred.

Assigning beds using electronic bed management system. Performing administrative duties as assigned by manager/supervisor. Utilizing electronic staffing system to verify and update staffing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Answers calls coming through the Care Central call center. 2. Prioritizes and directs calls based on clinical needs and department protocols. 3. Facilitates admissions and transfers in an accurate and expeditious manner. 4. Exhibits proficiency in use of various electronic systems. 5. Assigns rooms in an appropriate and timely manner as directed by Supervisor. 6. Performs administrative duties as requested by manager/supervisor. 7. Performs staffing functions as directed by manager/supervisor. 8. May maintains accurate list of sitter needs and updates/redeploys sitter as changes occur. 9. Accurately inputs information into the transfer database in a timely manner. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school graduate or GED Equivalent MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One (1) year of prior healthcare experience, including familiarity with medical terminology.
