This Is What You'll Do:

  • Perform medical evaluation of potential donors for automated plasmapheresis procedures

  • Determine donor suitability of new applicants in consultation with a donor center physician

  • Provide limited emergency care, including the administration of medications or treatments

  • Conduct evaluations to ensure compliance with criteria for normal plasma donors

  • Review medical histories and perform suitability examinations

  • Maintain communication logs regarding donor suitability

  • Review normal and abnormal test results to determine continued donor suitability

  • Counsel donors with abnormal test results and defer them accordingly

Requirements

This Is What It Takes:

  • Graduation from a recognized healthcare educational program

  • Current licensure as an RN specific to the location of employment

  • Current certification in CPR

  • Ability to educate donors, staff, and community regarding our plasma donation program

  • A high degree of organization, team orientation, flexability, and confort working with a diverse group of people with a very busy medical environment

  • Basic computer proficiency; Microsoft Word and Excel preferred

  • One or more years of hospitial, field care, or plasma center experience preferred

This position may include the duties of a charge nurse as assigned by the Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor to facilitate continuity of clinic operations. Essential Functions: * Application of the Nursing process to assess, plan and carry out interventions in the management of patient's care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team including medical providers, mental health/behavioral health providers, case management, dental, optometry, registered dieticians, clinical pharmacists, health educators etc. * Detailed, systematic documentation of all patient interactions in the electronic medical record. * In-person and telephone triage and advice supported by recognized industry protocols; approved by the Chief Medical Officer and compliant with clinic policy. * Nursing support for diverse population ranging from newborn to geriatric using culturally competent care. * Coordination of post-hospital follow-up appointments for primary care patients. * Nurse-led hypertension management through comprehensive One Community Health program. * Results review, including lab and imaging results for issues ranging from chronic diseases to sexual health. * Patient education and counseling for chronic disease management, medication adherence, preventive care, and wellness promotion. * Medication administration as ordered by qualified providers; including PO, inhaled, IM, IV, and intradermal medications. * Procedures and patient care as ordered, including venipuncture, wound care, port flushes, etc. * Active support of health team members for the continuity of care provided to all patients at One Community Health. * Patient scheduling of follow-ups and specialty appointments. * Coordinating and follow-up with patient calls and EHR messaging within timelines set by clinic protocols. * Leadership to clinical support staff including MAs and LVNs in a team-based model of care. Additional Duties * Convey critical assessment data and observations in a professional manner. * Delegation of tasks as appropriate within applicable scope of practice to LVN or MA. Oversight of delegated tasks to ensure complete, timely and appropriate execution. * Document all pertinent professional interactions. * Complete all required documentation comprehensively and in a timely manner. * Identify conflicts and seek consultation as needed for professional resolution. * Interact in a collaborative atmosphere with providers, clinic staff and laboratory staff. * Participate in quality improvement activities including annual training in quality improvement. * This position functions as a member of the One Community Health team and as such actively collaborates with other clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure care is proactive and coordinated. This collaboration may include attendance at daily team huddles, care conferences and trainings. There will be ongoing training as appropriate. * This position is responsible for reporting suspicion of child, adult (including spouses), elder, and dependent adult abuse as outlined in Penal Code, section 11166, Section 15630, and Section 1160. Education/Experience Required: * Associates in Nursing required * Bachelors of Nursing preferred. * 1 year clinical experience required * 1 year acute care experience preferred. * Current active license to practice as an RN in the state of California. * Active CPR, BLS Certification.
