Position Description:

The Orthopedic and Spine Navigator is responsible for facilitating and assisting patients through the healthcare continuum, including the holistic knowing of patients, enhanced communication among caregivers and lateral integration of care. The Navigator should possess a specialized knowledge in horizontal leadership and is accountable for the management of care and the care environment. In addition to a professional preparation, the Navigator shall possess enhanced clinical skills in an orthopedic unit setting and is responsible for a group of patients in that setting. The Navigator is also expected to collaborate with staff ranging from RNs, LPNs and PCAs. The Navigator shall establish a strong partnership with the nursing and medical staff to deliver optimal care ensuring safety and quality outcomes with 24 hour accountability for the care provided by self and others to whom care is delegated.

The Navigator shall abide by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and comply with the Florida Nurse Practice Act in the overall performance of his/her role. National Orthopedic Certification is preferred.

Position Requirements:

  • FL RN License, or

  • Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/ot limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing preferred

  • BSN preferred

  • Current BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association)

  • Current ACLS certification as a Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association) preferred

  • 3 5 years RN experience

  • Charge Nurse experience

  • Knowledge and application of pertinent computer programs and imaging software (i.e., MUSE, PACS, etc.)

  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment is essential.

Job Description: The Wound Care nurse organizes and manages the care of patients within the facility with specific care needs related to the integumentary, gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems. This includes demonstrating clinical expertise in undertaking accurate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients with complex wounds, ostomies and continence disorders. The Wound Care nurse will also serve as a clinical resource to other nursing staff and be prepared to function in the roles of educator and leader. * When appropriate, assist with preoperative preparation of patient undergoing stoma placement, including site selection and education. * Maintains current WOCN certification and participates in continuing education programs relative to this specialty. * Maintain thorough and accurate records and documentation of activities and statistical reports. * Develop and maintain a formulary of supplies for the management of wounds, ostomy and continence disorders that incorporates product evaluations, cost-effectiveness comparisons and outcomes quality.
