Registered Nurse RN / Med Surg / Hospital We are seeking a qualified Med/Surg Registered Nurse RN for an immediate opening.
Our Client is a two-hospital system consisting of 700+ employees including 100 Physicians with over 22 specialties.
They are set beautifully near the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains where you can spend your free time hiking or fishing in one of the many trout streams.

Registered Nurse RN / Med Surg / Hospital Job Responsibilities As a Med/Surg Registered Nurse RN you are responsible for the intake and care for Med/Surg patients in the Med/Surg unit.
Additional responsibilities for the Med/Surg Registered Nurse RN include: Pass Meds Charting Start or Push IV Handle admit and/or discharge of patients on the floor Job Requirements We are looking for dedicated and professional Med/Surg Registered Nurse RN who is committed to providing exceptional patient care and service.
It is also important that you are highly organized and that you demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Specific qualifications for the Med/Surg Registered Nurse RN role include: Minimum 1-year of acute/hospital experience needed with in the past 12 months BSN Preferred or ASN and willing to obtain BSN in 36 months from hire Minimum BLS or BCLS Current Virginia RN license (will need to be current before offer but can still interview) PLEASE NOTE: If you have held any of the positions below, have any of the skills or experience listed below you may be a good fit for this position.

Responsible for the processes of assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care. Initiates health care training and education to the patient/family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Sovah Health-Martinsville and the Department of Nursing. Demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care. Accountable for the supervision of other licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel for assigned unit. Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health-Martinsville on all units. Responsible for providing care to all of the patient population with consideration to age –specificity and diagnosis. Education: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing OR Compact State. BLS certification-if not current, training required. ACLS certification-required: if experienced, training required within 3 months; if inexperienced, training required within 6 months. PALS certification- required within six months of hire, within one year for new graduates. Experience: Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred. Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific unit. Skills: Requires ability to function in stressful situations. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required with leadership qualities. Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include Assessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation. Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive period of time. May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. May require frequent bending, squatting and kneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
