Responsibilities What You'll Do The Infection Control Nurse Specialist applies knowledge and skills, professionally in daily performance of Infection Control activities. These responsibilities include (but are not limited to) surveillance, analysis, reporting, and recording activities as well as setting standards and evaluating compliance for practices that are associated with the prevention and control of health care associated infections. The program coordinator complies with the mandates of required accrediting and regulatory agencies and communicates pertinent information to the members of senior management and medical staff.

The successful candidate will have the following: Working knowledge and ability to demonstrate a comprehension of medical and nursing education and patient care management, microbiology, pathology, immunology, and medical statistics or biostatistics. Possess a working knowledge and have experience in the practice of epidemiological principles and infectious disease as they relate to infection control.

Have a knowledge of sterilization, sanitation, and disinfection practices. Knowledge of pertinent regulatory, accrediting, and advisory body requirements including, but not limited to, state and county regulations, specific accrediting body, and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of health care personnel in this and other health care facilities; public health services at the local, state, and national levels; and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Must be able to take a leadership role in implementation of strategies designed for cost-effective prevention of transmissible diseases. Have effective written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of adult education principles as they relate to educating and responding to hospital and external agency personnel. Must be computer literate, with a working knowledge of a word processing and an epidemiology software system.

This includes knowledge of and ability to use online services for research. Must be experienced in networking through the use of listservs, email, and professional organizations. Must demonstrate a basic understanding of performance improvement monitoring and development of performance improvement indicators. Maintain current knowledge with CMS, state, and federal regulatory agencies and public health guidelines as it relates to infection prevention.</p></li><li><p>Partner with Health Services Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) in the evaluation of resident care operations and affect changes as necessary to improve programs and assure compliance with regulatory requirements.</p></li><li><p>Implement an annual infection control risk assessment process and participate in the community's annual assessment review process.</p></li><li><p>Participate in the Risk Assessment Committee by developing written and oral reports and recommendations for the Director of Nursing concerning the operation of the QAPI Program and collaborate with the Committee to determine appropriate preventative measures.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with other departments in fulfilling requirements related to occupational health and safety.</p></li></ul><p>INFECTION PREVENTIONIST (LPN OR RN) QUALIFICATIONS</p><p>Experience:</p><ul><li><p>A minimum of 3 years of skilled nursing experience within a long-term care (LTC), assisted living, or hospital environment is preferred</p></li><li><p>Previous infection prevention experience preferred</p></li><li><p>Previous experience working with federal, state, and local nursing services regulations and practical experience analyzing and interpreting statistical reports while working in an interdisciplinary team environment is preferred</p></li><li><p>Previous experience within a long-term care or Life Plan Community is preferred</p></li><li><p>Previous leadership experience in a health care setting is preferred</p></li></ul><p>Education/Certifications/Licenses:</p><ul><li><p>Current State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or Licensed Practical Nurse license is required</p></li><li><p>Current CPR and First Aid certification is required</p></li><li><p>Completion of Pathway Health Infection Preventionist Basic Boot Camp for LTC Providers within 6-8 months of employment</p></li><li><p>Completion of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training within 6-8 months of employment</p></li></ul><p>Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p><ul><li><p>Strong understanding of state and federal regulations relating to LTC and Assisted Living</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding and knowledge of CDC, CMS, and APIC regulatory standards</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of medical terminology</p></li><li><p>Knowledge related to establishing and following care plans</p></li><li><p>Strong resident care documentation skills</p></li><li><p>MDS knowledge preferred</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn new software systems (i.e. MatrixCare)</p></li><li><p>Ability to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends), when needed</p></li><li><p>Solid problem solving and decision making skills</p></li><li><p>Strong communication skills to effectively and empathetically address critical health and end of life issues with a diverse resident population and family members</p></li><li><p>Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of quality customer management and service</p></li><li><p>Ability to effectively interact with a diverse leadership team, staff, residents, and third party associates, including vendors, providers, and visitors</p></li><li><p>Ability to effectively manage sensitive and confidential communications and information, while maintaining a high level of poise, tact, and diplomacy</p></li></ul><p>Physical Demands:</p><ul><li><p>An extensive amount of walking, standing, and sitting, with a moderate amount of bending at the waist, kneeling, twisting/turning, reaching above the head and shoulders, and eye-hand coordination</p></li><li><p>Ability to routinely lift 35 pounds and push wheelchairs with loads of up to 300 pounds</p></li><li><p>Frequent use of ordinary communication, including normal levels of hearing and vision, including both near and far seeing, color discrimination, field of vision, and depth perception</p></li><li><p>Ability to use a computer or other office equipment for an extensive period of time</p></li><li><p>Ability to occasionally travel by car and/or commercial airline</p></li></ul><p>Mental and Emotional Requirements:</p><ul><li><p>Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions and reviewing/preparing detailed reports, schedules and medical records, using measuring devices, and simple calculations</p></li><li><p>Planning own work activities and occasionally directing and training others in their work assignments</p></li><li><p>Working independently or as a member of a team, and the ability to work with limited supervision</p></li><li><p>Routinely working on multiple tasks at the same time, under moderate amounts of pressure for results, with frequently changing priorities and requirements for extreme accuracy</p></li></ul><p>Location: 74136</p><br> Montereau Inc Tulsa OK
