The Staff Nurse and the Charge Nurse provide safe and effective nursing care in the assigned area(s) in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the Hospital and within the framework of established policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing Services. As a key team member in the clinical area, the Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse promote a climate of effective performance and learning through role modeling, willingness to learn and teach, and availability to patients and staff.

The Charge Nurse organizes, manages and coordinates unit nursing services on assigned shift as delegated by Nursing Administration.

This position performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties such as:

  • Leadership

  • Safety and Assessment

  • Medication and Milieu Management

  • Direct Patient Care for patients with a wide variety of psychiatric and medical conditions

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.

Credentials: Licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing required.

Experience: Clinical experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be able to interact positively with patients on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership ability and provide appropriate supervision/oversight of staff.

  • Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.

  • Must be able to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles.

  • Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.

  • Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion.

  • Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.

  • Must have math skills to enable calculation of drug dosages and infusion rates.

You can make an exceptional difference in the lives of our patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. If you haven't considered Nephrology before, read on as we think that you should. Dialysis Experience is NOT required. * What you can expect:* * Long term patient relationships. Build meaningful relationship with patients and their family in an intimate outpatient setting. * A team that feels and functions like a family. Staff RNs are a central part of a small interdisciplinary team of clinicians. Work alongside and support technicians, other nurses, dietitians, social workers, physicians and the center manager. * Fun is one of our core values. Happier nurses = healthier patients. * Specialized, complex care.
