Registered Nurse - Picu

A Brief Overview Our Level 1 Trauma Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 20 bed combined medical-surgical unit which cares for more than 1600 critically ill children each year. When a child is transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital's team of caring pediatric team is available to provide the highest level of expert critical care in Northeast Ohio.

This includes care and treatment for traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, and for children recovering from surgery. We also treat children referred from the emergency department and other pediatric divisions. Some of the conditions we treat include:

Life-threatening traumatic injuries Complications of cancer or blood disorders Diabetic ketoacidosis Liver or kidney failure Poisonings Rare, cancerous tumors Serious or rare forms of any childhood disease Severe asthma attack Viral or bacterial infections, including severe cases of meningitis or pneumonia Click Here to learn more about our amazing care givers and the care that they provide at UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital What You Will Do Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care. Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes. Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.

Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing. Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.

Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.

Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications: Schedule: Full time: Day/Night rotation Alternating weekend/holidays Experience and Education Requirements:

Licensed RN with 1 year e xperience required Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum of Diploma/Associate's Degree in nursing from accredited program. License Requirements:

Registered nurse with current license to practice in the state of Ohio. Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire (Required) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on clinical area standards. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on clinical area standards.
