Work hours: Part time, 24 hours weekly, 2-12 hours shifts, one 11a and one 3p

The emergency department at Texas Health Neighborhood Care & Wellness Burleson, located about 15 miles south of downtown Ft. Worth, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to care for the medical needs of Johnson County. In fact, we're more than an emergency department. With advanced imaging services, an on-site laboratory, cardiac rehabilitation, and physical therapy services to help you get back on your feet, we're an entire facility dedicated to providing quality health care to residents of the Burleson, Joshua and Crowley communities.

Texas Health Burleson is a department of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth and is staffed by the same physician group that delivers emergency care at Texas Health's Fort Worth hospitals. From pediatric patients to seniors, Texas Health Burleson provides care for an array of illnesses and injuries and can be your first stop in an emergency.

Here's what you need

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire

  • BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

  • ACLS - within 90 days of hire required

  • PALS - within 90 days of hire required or ENPC - within 12 months of hire required

  • NIHSS - within 90 days of hire required

  • TNCC or ATCN - within 12 months of hire required

  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 60 days of hire

  • 1-year clinical nursing experience or completion of an RN residency program required

  • ED experience strongly preferred - will consider ICU experience

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will

  • demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
  • possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
  • have basic computer skills using medical management application systems

What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

  • assesses the patient

  • plans the care of the patient

  • intervenes as appropriate

  • evaluates the effectiveness of interventions

  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.

  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information

  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
