A registered nurse with expertise in nursing education who: influences professional role competence and professional growth of nurses in a variety of settings, supports lifelong learning of nurses and other healthcare personnel in an environment that facilitates continuous learning, and fosters an appropriate climate for learning and facilitates the adult learning process while functioning within the framework of achieving the strategic goals of University Medical Center and Nursing Services. Assist Director and Assistant Director as needed. Has a working knowledge of organizational and nursing policies.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Proficient level of clinical competence in assigned clinical area
Completion of all required education activities
Orientation Program
Projected orientation hours
Oversees orientation process
Evaluates orientation program
Complies with clinical instructor participation standards
90 Day Evaluations
Coordinates successful orientation program from in-processing to
assimilation. Communicates
regularly with orientees and preceptors. Ensures timely progression of
orientation process and
evaluations.
Quality Management

DNV Readiness
Technical Procedure Privileging
Continuing Nursing Education
Utilizes the annual needs assessment to plan educational in-services.
Maintains required
documents in education files. Promotes accountability for timely
completion of mandatory
education. Prepares staff for DNV and other accreditation visits. Plans
and organizes annual
competency fair.
Professional Growth and Development
Engages staff in self-directed and unit-based activities
Promotes Certification/Advanced Nursing Education
Evidence-based Practice
Coaching and Mentoring

Promotes a positive environment for learning and professional
development. Maintains visibility
through staff rounding and provides regular educational programs for
growth. Ensures unit
practices are evidence based.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current RN licensure from Texas State Board of Nursing or holds a
recognized compact state licensure
3 years of professional nursing experience
Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the specific clinical area (GI and OR).
Supervisory experience desired
