POSITION SUMMARY

Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000

Pay range: $45.61/hr - $68.49/hr

The Registered Nurse working as a member of the Diagnostic Imaging Team, ensures the delivery of quality nursing care for patients undergoing a wide variety of procedures in all imaging departments (CT, MRI, US, PET CT, General Radiology / Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography) including sedation. This is done in accordance with age-related, individual needs, physician's orders, hospital policy, and standards of care and nursing practice. Assess the needs of patients, plans nursing care to meet those needs, and ensures that the plan of care is carried out and documented according to the principles defined in the nursing process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performed majority of the time:

  • Works closely with Radiologist and Diagnostic Imaging team to respond to a variety of situations, including, but not limited to contrast reactions, falls, vasovagal, IV extravasation.

  • Care coordination of diagnostic imaging exams/procedures with patients and healthcare team members.

  • The RN is responsible for patient communication regarding pre/post imaging related care/information.

  • Moderate sedation for image guided or painful procedures, and or claustrophobia.

  • Administers medications/IV fluids as ordered by the provider and following Hillsboro Medical Center policy and procedure.

  • Administer medications as ordered by provider, including those that may lead to moderate sedation following moderate sedation policy and monitoring procedures.

  • Monitors patient during a wide variety of invasive procedures including but not limited to solid organ biopsy, superficial and deep tissue biopsy, drainage tube placement, and various interventional radiology procedures.

  • Operates, controls quality, and routinely maintains physiologic monitoring system, defibrillator, and emergency equipment on a daily basis.

  • Assess patients according to organization's standards prior to invasive procedures with or without sedation.

  • Maintains adequate levels of stock in procedural intake and sedation areas and reports any variances to appropriate departments.

  • Retrieve and locate present and prior studies or labs as needed for pre-procedural work up.

  • Monitors patient for intended effects and side effects of medication administered.

  • Performs special projects and other related duties, as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

Required

  • Associates Degree in Nursing.

Preferred

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing.

Experience:

Required

  • Moderate sedation, IV start skills, defibrillator.

  • Emergency response to allergic and vasovagal reactions.

  • Minimum one (1) year nursing experience in a clinical setting.

Preferred

  • Port-a-cath access.

  • Oncology nursing.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Required

  • Current licensure as registered nurse by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

  • American Heart Association BLS.

  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS Certification.

Preferred

  • ARIN certification (Association for Radiologic and Imaging Nursing.

  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and self; reports potential safety hazards.

  • Complies with all HIPAA guidelines pertaining to patient privacy.

  • Complies with Radiation Safety policy on Dosimetry badge usage.

  • Uses the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in delivery of care to patients.

  • Identifies patient learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet those needs.

  • Communication shows respect for coworker's differences while effectively accomplishing tasks.

  • Communicates effectively with customers of diverse ethnic & cultural backgrounds.

  • All nursing practice, regardless of specialty, role, or setting, is fundamentally independent practice.

  • Registered nurses are accountable for nursing judgments made and actions taken in the course of their nursing practice. Therefore, the registered nurse is responsible for assessing individual competence and is committed to the process of lifelong learning.

  • Registered nurses develop and maintain current knowledge and skills through formal and continuing education and seek certification when it is available in their areas of practice.

  • Nurses must be as proficient in communication skills as they are in clinical skills.

  • Competent care is provided and accomplished through both independent practice and partnerships.

  • Collaboration may be with other colleagues or with the individuals seeking support or clinical skills.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all clients, physicians, co-workers, and hospital matters.
