Registered Nurse (RN) Behavioral Health & Wellness - PRN/Flexible Scheduling!

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, either 7a-7p or 7p-7a

  • Two years of RN experience required

Three different commitment levels available:

  • 24 hours (or 2 shifts, with 1 shift of weekend) of coverage per four (4) week schedule, no holiday obligation.
    2.24 hours (or 2 shifts) of weekend coverage per four (4) week schedule, one Group A holiday (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, or Thanksgiving),one Group B holiday (Christmas or New Years).
    3 . 36 hours (or 3 shifts) of weekend coverage per four (4) week schedule, one Group A holiday (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day or Thanksgiving) and one Group B holiday (Christmas or New Years)

What will you be doing?

The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Performs initial and on-going physical and psychosocial assessment according to accepted standards of nursing practice.

  • Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.

  • Carries out physician orders.

  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.

  • Participates in treatment team conferences to assist in planning and revising goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the age-related and problem-specific needs of each patient.

  • Implements nursing plan of care for assigned patients and conducts and/or co-leads group therapy sessions for patients.

Education, Licensure/Certifications and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, BSN or Associate Degree

  • Current RN License in the Commonwealth of Virginia

  • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider

  • Recent RN experience in a hospital; Behavioral Health experience preferred

The Behavioral Health Practitioner performs the following: * Completes Psychosocial Assessment, conducts ongoing assessments of psychosocial needs and documents Discharge Recovery Goals with interventions on the Recovery Care Plan * Collaborates with behavioral health recovery team, patient, significant other as appropriate and community partners in the development and revision of the recovery plan and coordination of services. * Monitors patient acuity/progress and coordinates discharge planning as evidenced by documentation. * Facilitates psycho-educational groups and family meetings to prepare for post-hospitalization treatment needs. * * Maintains current knowledge of community resources and post-hospitalization treatment options. Facilitates transition to the appropriate next level of care. * Has working knowledge of utilization management functions and performs these duties as assigned; monitors patient acuity to determine ongoing treatment needs and level of care required to meet such needs. * Provides for the safety of patients, visitors and staff and actively participates in quality management activities. * Provides ongoing education for the members of the interdisciplinary treatment team related to ethical, psychosocial and discharge planning issues. * Participates in Quality/Process Improvement initiatives. * Assumes responsibility for completing all mandatory educational, health screening, CPR, and CPI requirements within designated time frame.
