Applications for the July 2019 Orientation track cohort will be accepted until March 18th 2019 at 4:00pm.

All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.

Applications are accepted three times each year for cohorts beginning in February, July, and October.

How to Apply:

All candidates, including current staff, should apply by completing an online application for the Nurse Residency Position.

Reminder: Items needed to complete your application are:

  • Resume and Letter of Intent (upload to online application)
  • Mail or e-mail your Letters of Recommendation and current transcripts at time of application to the online application to the address below. Two recommendation letters (one additional from your manger if a UPH DM employee)

Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act. Provides nursing care for patients and families and maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at Iowa Health Des Moines within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.

Graduate of accredited nursing program. Newly licensed nurse within the last 6 months.

Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Completion of residency program within the first 12 months of employment. Dept of Labor Level III (Medium) Work.

Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work. Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. EOE M/F/V/D

We currently have a position on our Evening shift with core hours of 2:00 pm -10:30 pm and on our night shift with core hours of 1015 pm - 615 am. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible to provide direct care to the resident at a professional nursing level. The Nurse will implement interventions with the resident and/or family/decision maker to assist the resident to achieve and maintain his/her optimal mental and physical functioning. The RN will follow the nursing process in all aspects of practice regarding the residents' care needs. The RN will provide clinical leadership of the LPNs to ensure that quality nursing practice is achieved within the full scope of their licensure. The Nurse assesses, communicates and documents acute and/or daily resident needs or issues, performs professional nursing work on an ongoing basis including licensed treatments, administration f medications and resident care. Will rotate charge nurse duties as NOD.
