The Radiology RN will be a registered professional nurse responsible for managing and coordinating care for patients awaiting or undergoing examinations/procedures in the imaging areas. In addition, the Radiology RN will develop and participate in patient and family teaching and provide leadership by working cooperatively with nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. They will share weekend and evening neurology call responsibilities with Cath Lab RNs on a rotating basis.



  • Current NYS Nursing License.

  • ACLS Certification

  • Two years minimum experience as staff nurse. Two years critical care experience. One year of Interventional Radiology preferred.

  • Participates in educational conferences and participates in education programs related to equipment and/or product upgrades and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to the area of responsibility, maintains confidentiality, understands legal aspects of the job function as they relate to licensure, adheres to hospital policies and procedures. Role involves a variety of pt care problems to be solved under general guidelines, and calls for a variety of decisions, some of which are complex and must be referred to a resource person.

    May assist in directing a small group of employees performing tasks of semi-skilled nature. Instructs and educates employees, patients and families. Has an obligation to conserve supplies, equipment and time in a cost-effective environment.


  • Good general health - able to lift patients and stand/walk most of the day. Involved in lengthy procedures that may require wearing heavy lead lined aprons for extended periods of time.

    General understanding of radiation protection and radiation safety principles. Works independently, recognizes priorities and initiates appropriate response to changing work environments. Finger and hand dexterity with visual, aural and olfactory acuity to recognize changes in the patient's condition. Demonstrates genuine sensitivity and approach to meeting patient needs.

She/He identifies expected, individualized outcomes to develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain those outcomes. The nurse implements the interventions identified in the plan of care and evaluates the patient's progress toward outcomes. The Maternal Child nurse has the ability to make contributions toward making the birthing experience positive and memorable for the woman and her significant other. Responsibilities: EDUCATION * The nurse must be currently licensed in New York as a Registered Professional Nurse * BLS * Neonatal Resuscitation Certified (if assigned to attend deliveries independently).
