Overview
The RN Data Analyst Lead is responsible for oversight of data collected and reported in the department as defined by quality measure initiatives. This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing and coordinating medical information and ensuring that established specifications or definitions are met. This includes working with other departments to develop, validate and automate reporting as well as creating visual data display of quality information. The position is a liaison to direct patient care providers to ensure appropriate and timely care is provided and documented to meet external requirements. The Lead supervises the operations of the data analyst staff and ensures processes for appropriate data management and data integrity. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews and maintains advanced knowledge of established measure criteria for data abstraction and understands how individual data elements relate to measures and outcomes
Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of data
Demonstrates reliability of data definitions and participates in data validation and inter-rater reliability testing
Participates in performance improvement activities
Uses advanced knowledge of software systems, databases and statistical process to coordinate, maintain and provide meaningful information to physician leadership, management and teams to evaluate clinical practice, process and outcomes. Understands workflow and clinical documentation in relation to data collected
Leads data validation processes, ensuring the accuracy of reports
Creates reports and graphs for data optimization and display
Assures adequate staffing for the department
Participates in orientation of new staff and assists with meeting education needs of the group
Acts as a role model and resource for data analysts and quality coordinators
Participates in performance evaluations, coaching and staff development

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
BSN or upon hire BSN completion agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN program.
2 years of progressive supervisory experience preferred
Experience with data analysis and measure specifications preferred.
Advanced knowledge in data management including report generation, Microsoft Excel and electronic medical record reports.
Certification and Licensure
Licensed as an RN in the State of practice
Skills and Abilities

COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, intermediate computer knowledge is required. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
