Job Summary: FT Registered Nurse, Pre-Op/Post-Op, Day Shift, St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

Position Summary:
Provides patients with direct nursing care based on the nursing processand individual patient assessment needs.

Provide families of patients with emotional support, information andguidance in treating the identified patient. Educate patients and families in areas of health and illness thatmaintain optimum levels of physical and emotional functioning.

Requirements:
Aminimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program isrequired.

A Bachelor's Degree in Nursingfrom an accredited nursing program is preferred. All new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) arerequired to start an approved BSN program within two years of hire and completean approved BSN program within five years of hire. Appropriate state licensure, specializedprofessional credentialing and other formal education as needed.

Registered Nurse competency is validated bythe Competency Based Orientation (CBO) plan. May provide additional information related to competencies at higherlevels. Maintains designated yearlycompetencies by unit.

Maintainscertifications according to specific unit requirements; i.e., BLS, ACLS, PALS,etc. Demonstrates a strong belief andbehaviors consistent with the Saint Joseph HealthCare Mission and Core Values(Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence).

Working Relationships: Responsible to the Manager.

May supervise one or more Associates in aclinical or educational setting. Dailycontact is with co-workers, managers, social services, medical staff, students,clergy, patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and the general public. May have contact with other members of the

Health Care Delivery team such as medical representatives, interns, externs,insurance agents, representatives of licensing/regulatory boards and physicianoffices.

Physical coordination, mobility, verbal articulation,vision, and learning must be easily performed. May be exposed to blood, body tissues and fluids regularly, as well asother hazardous waste materials.

Must beable to tolerate environmental temperature fluctuations. May be exposed to radiation, toxins, dust,cytotoxins, and/or poisonous substances. May be exposed, periodically, to physical injury, burns, noise, and someelectrical hazards.

Must work in a variety of situations and adhere to Hospitalpolicies in accordance with safety requirements, including standard andtransmission based infection control and environmental precautions. Must function appropriately in emergencysituations.

Must deal appropriately withaggressive personalities through the use of effective communication and, asneeded, use of the chain of command. Must also be able to walk, standextensively, bend, stoop, squat, visually discriminate close objects,hear anddistinguish normal sounds.

If you accept, the in-app feature will start the audio or video call with the user.  On the call, you will give a verbal recommendation on what care is best for the user—whether that’s the ER, urgent care, or an appointment with their primary care physician.</li></ul><div style="text-align: center;"><strong>Can I Be Held Liable?</strong></div><ul dir="ltr"><li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Your services are voluntary for the emergency response feature. The optional compensation for responding to a medical emergency is reimbursement for your time, not your services.</li><li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Therefore you are protected under Good Samaritan Laws.
