For more information on SCA, visit www.scasurgery.com.Accountabilities / ResponsibilitiesWe are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp. * Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA. * Assess patient's preoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient's* cardiovascular system,* respiratory system and airway management needs,* neurological system,* hemodynamic stability,* pain and comfort needs, and* mental status. * Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. * Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. * Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. * Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care by implementing:*
  • Preparing for and protecting patient from injury caused by positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects.*
  • Communicating the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care. * Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources. * Demonstrating safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation. * Speaking up with safety concerns acting as the patient's advocate. * Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures.*
  • Adhering to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment. * Providing acute pain and comfort management as needed. * Administering medications safely and correctly by using the 8-rights of safe medication administration. * Performing interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels. * Performing interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period.*
  • Providing nursing and appropriate monitoring in accordance with policies and procedures. * Performing interventions to protect patient from infection. * Managing patient's other co-morbid conditions as applicable. * Managing patient's fluid as prescribed. * Assessing the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person.*
  • Providing education regarding the expected psychosocial response, nutritional management, medical management, pain management, wound management, and expected responses to the operative or invasive procedure. * Involving patient or designated support person actively in decisions affecting his or her perioperative plan of care and the rehabilitation process. * Protecting patient's rights, dignity, and privacy. * Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice; and * Complying with Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policy. * Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes. * Transfer care as needed. * Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patient's condition and response to care. * Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act (if applicable), state board of nursing or professional registration requirements, state laws, and job descriptions. * Document episode of care completely, accurately, and legibly. * Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders. * Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning patient care. * Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects. * Participate in the performance appraisal process. * Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members. * Maintain required competencies. * Pursue professional growth. * Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. * Comply with SCA and facility policies and procedures when providing patient care. * Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles. * Demonstrate fiscal responsibility. * Perform all other duties as assigned.Qualifications * Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. * One year of ICU, ED, PACU, and/or medical / surgical nursing experience preferred. * Current state licensure to practice within good standings. * Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification. * Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification. * Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification. * Specialty certification in Perioperative or perianesthesia Nursing is preferred.Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:* Physically demanding, high-stress environment * Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions * Pushing and pulling heavy objects * Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients and equipment * Manual and finger dexterity * Hand eye coordination * Standing and walking for extensive periods of time * Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs * Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range * Working irregular hoursAs a representative of Surgical Care Affiliates, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct impact on the Facility's success. Accountabilities / Responsibilities The Instrument Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining instruments and equipment in an optimal fashion and preparing instrumentation, equipment, and sterile supplies for the surgical patient. The Instrument Processing Technician is responsible to assist with the provision of patient care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the clinical leader. The Instrument Processing Technician performs duties according to scope of practice designated by the facility position description, role and responsibilities and under the direction of the designated clinical leader. Key Responsibilities: * Knowledge of sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and maintenance and care of instruments and equipment. * Knowledge of standards and engages in practices and procedures of sterile technique. * Cleans and/or disinfects instruments and equipment after use and returns it to the proper area, in appropriate sequence, for storage and/or processing. * Differentiates sterilization and disinfection methods required for specific instruments and equipment. * Demonstrates ability to understand and use sterilizers, high-level disinfectors, instrument washers, and other designated processors. * Demonstrates ability to understand use, function, interpretation, documentation, and record-keeping of chemical and biological indicators related to instrument and equipment sterilization and low, intermediate, and high-level disinfection processes. * Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards. * Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, and disinfects instruments and equipment and maintains the functions of the instrument processing area/department. * Maintains area/department in an orderly/organized fashion. * Perform weekly inventory of processing supplies and notifies appropriate personnel of order needs. * Continues assigned daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly routines, including requirements with reports, logs and related documentation. * Assists teammates with daily preparation for current and future facility schedules (pulling cases and assembling supplies) as assigned. * Is available to assist all areas of facility as needed and assigned. * Responsible for crossover duties in other areas such as purchasing supplies and inventory management in proper areas according to facility policy and management guidance. * Demonstrates flexibility in assuming duties and responsibilities. * Transport patients to car when ready to discharge. * Assists in room turnover when needed and as assigned. * Adheres to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. * Completes all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner, as required by facility policy and according to management guidance. * Practices infection control and standard precautions as instructed or trained. Qualifications * High school graduate or equivalent. * Understanding of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies including industry standardized principles and practice in sterilization and disinfection required. * Prior experience in instrument processing preferred. * Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist preferred. * Successful completion of BLS Course within 90 days of employment required or documentation of current BLS certification. * Certification in instrument processing is preferred.
