Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Acute Unit (CV Acute), under general supervision, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with health care team members in the delivery of medical-surgical level care

The 21-bed medical/surgical unit that cares for children from neonates to young adults with complex congenital heart defects or acquired heart conditions requiring surgical repair or medical management. As one of the highest acuity medical-surgical units in the hospital, training in CV Acute allows the nurse to be competent in providing care to patients that require cardiac interventional management, telemetry monitoring, inotrope or ventricular assist device support, heart transplantation, heart failure management, and many other interventions.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1 year of RN experience with at least 1 year of acute/inpatient experience. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Education/Licensure/Certifications: BSN required. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California and American Heart Association BLS and PALS certification required.

Pay Scale Information

$61.60-$61.60

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
