The Early Head Start Program is currently seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to provide health services to children enrolled in the Early Headstart Program. This position will support the health needs of children ages 6 weeks to 3 years, including wellness monitoring, and vision & hearing screenings. This position will be scheduled to work 25 hour/week, Monday-Friday.

Will assume primary responsibility for: assisting center directors and family care providers with health related information for each child and will review all medical information for the child.
Document visits at all EHS sites for data collection in accordance with EHS guidelines for health related child outcomes.
Review child physicals upon enrollment for compliance with Office of Children and Family Services requirement for day care entry and on a regular basis thereafter to ensure appropriate updates and sustaining of ongoing physical updates.
Ensure all physicals have been completed within the last year, that the child is up to date with vaccinations and that the child's doctor has given written approval for the child to participate in day care.
Provide guidance for the completion of Child Health Care Plans and monitor every six months for update compliance, renewals or changes in medication and to update doctor/parent permission to continue administering.
Review of any medications that are related to allergies or specific medical care instructions and note this information has been provided.
Responsible for completing health assessments for moderately ill children at the EHS sites
Provide training, technical assistance for staff on medical concerns and proper care for those children with Health Care Plans in place.
Work with families to encourage dental care. Provide hearing and vision support to the families by conducting screenings on site once per year.
Coordinate Lead screenings for all EHS children.
When necessary provide assistance to clients regarding healthcare management concerns.
Occasional travel required to meet training requirements for position.
Must have Associates' or Bachelors' Degree in Nursing
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and minimum one year experience working in a child care or child education setting.
Prior experience in healthcare programming preferred.
Must have CPR and First Aid certifications.
Must have a valid NYS driver's license that meets The Salvation Army's insurance requirements and access to a vehicle during working hours.
