POSITION PURPOSE

To provide safe and effective patient care before, during, and after the invasive diagnostic or interventional cardiac cath/special procedure according to professional practice procedures. To assist the physician during the procedure by maintaining the sterile field and by providing safe and effective patient care.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing, or radiology technology, or cardiovascular technology or respiratory therapy as evidenced by verification of state licensure.

Diploma or transcripts required upon hire.

Experience:

One year of critical care or emergency room experience is preferred.

Licenses/Certificates:

Current Tennessee or compact professional license or RCIS certification required within one year. Current certification in BLS and ACLS (Red Cross or AHA). If not ACLS certified on hire, must acquire it within 6 months.

General Responsibilities:

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical or employment status of patients of Tennova Healthcare

Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.

Participate in Performance Improvement activities.

Utilize the nursing process to oversee and provide age specific patient care.

Communicate in an acceptable and easily understood manner.

Develops, implements, and updates plans of care for patients receiving special procedures.

Educates on and adheres to the patient bill of rights.

Care for patients receiving conscious sedation in special care areas.

Under the general direction of the physician(Cardiologist/Radiologist), will assist by scrubbing procedures or monitoring physiologic and hemodynamic data, as related to diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures performed in the cardiovascular lab.

Ensures the procedure room is adequately prepared for the procedure.

Monitors par level of all instruments and supplies

Assists in all aspects of invasive and noninvasive cardiac procedures.

Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities and the training of new staff.
